Amalfi Coast Walking Tour with Pompeii & Capri

The lively city of Naples, along with a fascinating guided visit of Pompeii set the stage for this walking and hiking tour near the Amalfi Coast. We’ll take a walk along the pathway of the gods above the spectacular Amalfi Coast and through the beautiful island of Capri, while staying in a simple but welcoming family-run inn and a working farm with genuine farm-to-table cooking. Our hikes high in the hills above the Amalfi coast offer superb views as well as a glimpse of simple village life far removed from the hubbub of the coast, and the best views from Capri are enjoyed on our guided walk.

Day One

Meet after breakfast in Naples and set off to visit the amazing ruins of Pompeii with an excellent local guide. Stop for lunch and a wine tasting on the slopes of Vesuvius. After lunch, continue to a hilltop farm, where we spend 3 nights in rustic rooms of an agriturismo, and meet the engaging proprietors. Enjoy the sea views above the Amalfi coast before a true farm-to-table dinner right down to the flavorful wine produced on the premises.

Day Two

Our local hiking guide will lead us on a walk in the hills along the Pathway of the Gods, with stunning views over the rugged coastline and blue Mediterranean. Stop for a rustic lunch with our friend Salvatore, who hauls in our food and wine by on horseback, then continue along a panoramic path to the small village of Bomerano. Shop for ceramics or indulge in a creamy gelato before returning to the farm. Another amazing meal based on fresh produce awaits us this evening.

Day Three

After a breakfast with freshly baked bread and homemade jam, we’ll start off with a steep climb that winds through the quiet hills, then descends past an ancient monastery with gorgeous coastal views. Stop in the town of San Lazzaro known for hand-painted ceramics and freshly made mozzarella, before returning to our farm inn. (An alternate easier walk may also be proposed.)

Day Four

Transfer to the picturesque town of Ravello, perched on a hilltop with lovely gardens and villas waiting to be explored. Walk along a rural trail through terraced lemon groves all the way to the bustling seaside town of Amalfi. After some free time to explore the town and the stunning cathedral, board a ferry to the island of Capri. From Capri port a wild ride along narrow roads overlooking the sea brings us to our welcoming guesthouse tucked in a splendid garden near the town of Anacapri. Stroll to dinner in a fine restaurant with a lovely sea view.

Day Five

Hop on the local bus to the fashionable town of Capri, and walk through the piazzetta, with the best people-watching on the island. Follow a tranquil path out to a scenic overlook, then wind through the woods dodging wild rabbits, then up a long stairway to a beautiful bay with the best views on Capri of the turquoise sea. Time to explore or take an additional walk, before returning to Anacapri and a pleasant walk back to our guesthouse. Our final night dinner will be in a stunning location where we sip prosecco and watch the sunset as we toast to a lovely trip.

Day Six

Morning ferry to Naples or Sorrento. Individual taxis to your next destination (hotel or Naples airport or central train station.) Arrivederci!
